Alerter

Our desktop pager is a new feature to the website, which allows our visitors to see when we were last mobilised to an incident, and includes a link to the website by clicking on the pager buttons.

The pager is displayed as part of your PC desktop.  There is no need to download any software, simply follow the instructions below.  (Vista users - Click Here)

How does it work??

We update the website after each incident, and this is the moment that we will send out a "page".  The pager on your desktop automatically refreshes every 1 hour, this is when you will receive the "page".  The pager is free to set up and use.

How do I get the alerter??

The following instructions are for Windows XP.

Step 1. Right click the desktop.

Step 2. Select "Properties" from the drop-down menu.

Step 3. The "Display Properties" dialogue box appears, select the "Desktop" tab.

Step 4. Left Click "Customise Desktop".

Step 5. The "Desktop Items" Dialogue box appears.  Select the "Web" tab.

Step 6. Left Click "New".

Step 7. Type in the box  www.tenburyfire.co.uk/pager

Step 8. Click "OK".

Step 9. The "Add item to active desktop" dialogue box appears - left click the "OK" button.

Step 10. Finally close all of the open dialogue boxes by clicking "OK" in each one.

The pager will now be on your desktop.  You can now position the pager by clicking and dragging the pager window.

If the pager covers the whole screen, simply run the mouse over the top of the screen to display a menu bar, which will give the option to reduce the pager to a suitable size.
