-
Close
all doors as you leave
-
Before
opening doors, check that they are not hot with the BACK of your
hand - if the door is hot, do not open it, use another route.
-
Get
everyone out as quickly as possible
-
Don't
stop for pets or personal belongings
-
NEVER
re-enter the house,
until you have been told by a fire officer that it is safe
-
Call

Go
to a room with a window (and preferably a telephone)
-

-
Open
the window to clear any smoke
-
If
there is a telephone that is working, call the fire and rescue

in finding you.
-
If
there is no telephone, shout for help through the window
-
If
the room becomes smoky, crawl along the floor where the air will be
cleaner
-
REMEMBER
- The fire service should arrive in a matter of minutes
If
